While Las Vegas Boulevard, most well known as the strip, is where most of the iconic sites in Las Vegas can be found, that doesn’t mean you need to stay in a hotel that is right on the strip in order to enjoy your time in Las Vegas. The most obvious reason to stay in an off strip hotel is the simple fact that it is much cheaper. Hotels located right on the strip are in extremely high demand, which makes them a very expensive place to stay.

If you actually spend some time and do your research, you will be able to find hotels that are just as good at a much lower price. The only reason the hotels on the strip are so expensive is because of their location. Don’t confuse expense for quality. There are many high quality hotels off of the main road. It’s easy to find great hotels less than ten minutes away.

Las Vegas is a hotbed of architectural innovation. You don’t need to be on the main street in order to appreciate some of the innovative designs available. Obviously, staying in an off strip hotel doesn’t mean that you won’t have an opportunity to visit the strip. Nothing is all that far away in Las Vegas, and a trip to the main street will rarely take longer than a half hour.

That said, you should definitely spend some time visiting off the strip locations as well. Where the strip is constantly being renovated, other areas of Vegas are left intact. This means that the buildings further away from the main street have a longer history and a deeper culture.
